The National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu has said Nigeria is going through turmoils and only unity and understanding will allow the country to excel and be prosperous once more.
Speaking on Sunday during a visit to the Kano Emirate Council, Tinubu said: “Nigeria is in a critical stage and the only thing that would make it survive is unity and understanding. Therefore, Lagos and Kano which have come through this overtimes, then they must show the ways to peace to Nigerians.”
He added that Kano and Lagos States have to be role model to Nigerians in the nation’s peacebuilding.
According to him, “peace and development could be eluded if the nation continues the way it is going now. Therefore fundamentally, unity and tranquillity must be the hopes that could be a ride on.
“One could see that today that I – Bola Tinubu – am sitting side by side with Governor Ganduje and this is a clear testimony that people, regardless of their tribes and religions, could come together and make a change.
“Use us as a symbol and make a difference, that Lagos and Kano have been doing together all this while and Nigerians should see unity in us and make the country great.”
The Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero commended Tinubu for choosing Kano to celebrate his 65th birthday anniversary, insisting that “this alone is a testimony to unity and love he has for this country Nigeria.”
He said traditional leaders in the country are ready to give all the necessary support Nigeria requires for it to restore unity and understanding among tribes.
Also speaking at Emir Palace, Governor Ganduje said: “His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of our great party, APC, is in Kano for a special visit to the Emirate, for national cohesion, sight-seeing to see our modest development in the state and to attend his colloquium.
“In each of his birthday’s year, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu organises a colloquium where national issues are taken for deliberations among Nigerians. This shows how concerned he is with the development of this country.”
