The Nigerian Air Force has denied reports of an attempt by Boko Haram terrorists to take over its base in Kaduna State.

Some news outlets in the country had on Saturday, reported that fighters of the jihadi group in the early hours of the day, engaged military personnel in a gun fight that lasted for close to two hours.

It was reported that the terrorists attacked the base from the backside, an area said to be large in expanse and susceptible to trespassers.

However, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, in a statement, described the reports as “fake news”.

“Merchants of fake news are at it again. This time around, their focus is on the premier Nigerian Air Force Base at Kaduna, which they claimed came under terrorist attack in the early hours of today, 26 June 2021,” Gabkwet said.

“Members of the public should please disregard the news as it is entirely false. There was nothing of such as the inhabitants of the entire Base are going about their normal activities and duties without any threat whatsoever.”
