An igbo socio-political group, Ndigbo United Forum (NUF), has applauded some governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that voted for Northern Nigeria to produce the party’s national chairman.

DAILY POST recalls that the PDP Governor’s forum led by Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Governor of Sokoto State, had voted in favour of the North producing Uche Secondus’ successor.

The governors who voted in favour of the Northern chairmanship are Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), and Douye Diri (Bayelsa).

The meeting resolved to pass the resolution of the governors to the zoning committee of the national convention, currently scheduled to take place on October 30 and 31 in Abuja.

Reacting to the lastest development, Ndigbo United Forum (NUF), in a statement by its Board of Trustees Chairman, Chief Chinedu Mba, and made available to DAILY POST on Saturday, called on the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party to quickly ratify the committee’s resolution, and also do the needful in respect to the zoning of the presidential ticket.

The Igbo ethic group also re,-echoed her call for power shift to the southeast region, saying that it is the only way to send a clear message of justice, fairness, equity and the truth for the betterment of Nigeria.

According to the group, “NUF is very glad with the decision of the PDP, to zone her national chairmanship to Northern Nigeria; a move that will pave way for her presidential ticket to come to South.

“The decision of the zoning committee, ably led by the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, reflects a sincere respect for truth, fairness, justice equity and solidarity, like the legendary Late Pontiff postulated.

“This singular gesture, has the soothing capacity to calm all rowdy nerves. It is a very strategic and timely decision that transcended partisanship; for it has all it takes to save Nigeria’s Soul.

“Ndigbo United Forum applauds the very noble gesture. We are certain that all lovers of justice, truth and fairness, are also applauding the Committee’s decision”.
