The crisis rocking the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Gombe State took a new dimension on Tuesday with the arrest of Muhammad Adamu Yayari, the new media aide to former Governor Danjuma Goje.

Yayari was on Tuesday remanded in police custody by Gombe Chief Magistrate’s Court for posting the resignation of a number of ward executives of the ruling APC from Yamaltu/Deba LGA on his Facebook page.

Goje, who represents Gombe Central in the Senate, has been having a running battle with the APC, which had asked him to leave the party and allow Governor Inuwa Yahaya to lead the party.

The ward executive members of Yamaltu Deba Local Government however vowed to exit the party with Goje if forced to do so.

Yayari was arrested and detained on Monday at the State Police Headquarters following a petition against him by the State Secretary of the APC, Abubakar Umar S Goro.

Police First Information Report (FIR) said Yayari on November 25, 2021 published ‘an injurious falsehood’ against the executives of the APC in Yamaltu/Deba LGA chapter of the party on his personal facebook page.

Counsel to the State, Ramatu Ibrahim Hassan, who read the police FIR, said the accused intend to harm the reputation of the ward executives with the said post by alleging that 80 per cent of them have ‘abdicated’ their position.
