Gloria Ogbonna, Sweden-based Super Falcons’ defender, has confirmed receiving offers from top European clubs, in spite of over a year in her contract with Swedish club, Umea Ik.
The former captain of the Edo Queens, said she intends to see out her contract with Umea Ik, as her main focus now was to help the club grow.
“I have had offers coming around but I have told them to hold on and that I want to focus on this team for now”, Ogbonna said, adding that she joined Umea Ik to help the club gain promotion to the elite division of the Swedish women football league.
“I feel good and so much excited to say that I have been able to achieve that feat with Umea Ik. It was one of the main reasons I decided to join this great family.
“I had no doubt in my mind that I was going to add to the team’s success and also to help them qualify to play in the Swedish top flight. I am very happy that today my wish has been accomplished.
“We have qualified and looking forward to playing in the top flight league next season,” she stated.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on her experience so far in the Scandinavian country, Ogbonna said that playing there had improved her standard as a player.
“I am a better player now, I have gotten another level of experience,” she stated.
